Palliative Patient and Caregiver Gathering Held at Pazhassi Park

A Palliative Patient and Caregiver Gathering was organized at Pazhassi Park, Mananthavady, under the joint initiative of Edavaka Grama Panchayat and the Edavaka Family Health Centre.The gathering was organized in the open, shaded surroundings of Pazhassi Park with the aim of providing comfort and emotional support to palliative patients and their caregivers, many of whom have been confined to their homes or sickbeds for a long period, and to provide them with an opportunity to share their experiences and concerns.The programme was inaugurated by Girija Sudhakaran, President, Edavaka Grama Panchayat. Dr. K.C. Fase, Medical Officer, Family Health Centre, delivered the welcome address. Jamas Thayyilthodi, Vice President, Edavaka Grama Panchayat, presided over the function.Dr. P. Narayanan Nair, one of the early medical practitioners of Mananthavady, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. During the function, former Panchayat President Apputtan was honoured by presenting him with a Ponnada (traditional shawl).Jinoj Thottathil, Welfare Standing Committee Chairman, Usha Vijayan, Block Panchayat Member, K.K. Mujeeban, Panchayat Member, Dr. K.R. Deep, NCD District Nodal Officer, and Abdullara Haji, Chairman, Palliative District Coordination Committee, addressed the gathering.The programme also included the distribution of appreciation certificates to individuals and institutions that had extended their support and cooperation towards palliative care services.Following the formal session, palliative patients and their family members came together to present various cultural programmes, creating a joyful and memorable atmosphere.

The palliative patient and caregiver gathering held at Pazhassi Park turned out to be a meaningful and memorable experience for all the participants, providing them with an opportunity to spend time together, share their experiences, and find emotional strength and companionship.
