Sahayi – Protection Forum for Women and Children

 What is Jagratha Samithi?

Jagratha Samithi is a community-level protection forum for women and children that operates continuously with high vigilance at the local level. Its core objective is to ensure the rights, physical safety, and mental well-being of women and children while preventing violence, rights violations, and social exclusion against them.

To provide an effective protection mechanism, the committee intervenes immediately in urgent local matters. It also works to extend legal protection and administrative support to vulnerable areas that lack proper oversight committees or where women and children are neglected.

 Aims and Objectives

1 To protect the rights of women and children and to ensure strong interventions and redressal mechanisms against any form of violence, discrimination, exploitation, injustice, or denial of rights.
2 To accept all complaints involving women and children as parties and resolve them through timely interventions or support systems.
3 To escalate complex grievances that cannot be resolved at the local level to the District Jagratha Samithi, Women's Commission, other government departments, or legal aid agencies, ensuring follow-up until justice is delivered at the grassroots level.
4 To coordinate government agencies and schemes meant for safeguarding the rights of women and girls, seamlessly integrating the operations of related external welfare agencies with the Jagratha Samithi.
5 To plan and execute community initiatives aimed at building a safe social ecosystem entirely free from threats or hostile environments for women and children.
6 To foster community partnerships, self-help groups, and public networks to effectively achieve the institutional goals of the forum.
7 To offer robust community monitoring, guidance, and backing to ensure local child and women development programs do not face institutional misuse or exploitation.
