One-Day Training Programme on Health Awareness Conducted at Edavaka
As part of the Health Awareness Action Programme, a one-day training session was organized for the owners and cooking staff of hotels, restaurants, tea shops, bakeries, and other food establishments functioning within the limits of Edavaka Grama Panchayat.
The programme was held at the Edavaka Grama Panchayat Hall. Girija Sudhakaran, President, Edavaka Grama Panchayat, presided over the function. K. Babu, Health Inspector, Family Health Centre, Edavaka, delivered the welcome address.
Pushpa, Medical Officer, Family Health Centre, and Leela, Health Standing Committee Chairperson, also attended the programme. K.H. Sulaiman, Retired Technical Assistant, led the awareness session.
The participants stated that the training was highly beneficial, particularly in the context of infectious diseases such as Shigella and Hepatitis being reported in the region.
The awareness programme was organized against the backdrop of inspections conducted by health officials at food establishments within the Panchayat limits in recent days. During these inspections, food items found to be unhygienic and stale were identified and destroyed, and cases were registered against the concerned establishments.
The programme emphasized the importance of maintaining food safety, personal hygiene, cleanliness, and proper food-handling practices to prevent the spread of food-borne and other communicable diseases.
