Mahatma Award - 2024-25
The Edavaka Grama Panchayat governing body, led by Panchayat President Girija Sudhakaran, officialy received the prestigious Mahatma Award—the first prize at the state level for the outstanding implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
The award was presented by the Minister for Local Self-Governments, M.B. Rajesh, during the Panchayat Day celebrations held at Taliparamba.
Key Achievements (Financial Year 2024-25)
By undertaking a diverse range of developmental projects, the panchayat achieved the following milestones during the financial year:
Total Expenditure: A total of ₹11.12 crore was spent on various local works.
Employment Generation: Successfully generated 2.047 lakh person-days of work, providing employment to 2,577 families.
Wages Distributed: ₹7.92 crore was disbursed directly to workers as wages.
100 Days of Employment: The panchayat successfully provided 100 full days of employment to 1,544 families.
Material Component: ₹2.97 crore was utilized under the material component to build durable community assets.
Rural Infrastructure & Asset Creation
Out of the ₹2.97 crore spent on materials, the panchayat significantly upgraded rural infrastructure by constructing:
53 Roads
4 Culverts
7 Drainage systems
14 Ponds
Environmental and waste management assets, including soak pits, compost pits, and Mini MCFs (Material Collection Facilities).
