Edavaka Grama Panchayat Organizes Village Visit to Monsoon-Affected Disaster-Prone Areas

Edavaka: Under the leadership of the President of Edavaka Grama Panchayat, members of the governing body and officials will conduct a village visit on June 24 through disaster-prone areas in the Panchayat that are most affected by monsoon-related damages.

The visit will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 24, from Orapu Riverbank and will cover Agraharam, Kakkanchery, Kammana, Cheruvayal Karinthirikkadavu, and Payode Pandikkadavu, concluding at Chamadi Poyil.

An RRT (Rapid Response Team) will be prepared to coordinate disaster management activities in each of these locations.

Any shortcomings observed in previous years will be addressed while planning future measures. A Disaster Management Manual will also be published.

The organizers requested the presence of local residents, members of various Panchayat committees, and individuals involved in political, voluntary, artistic, and cultural activities at each location.

Panchayat President Inaugurated Training for Pulse Polio Volunteers at Edavaka

Edavaka: As part of the National Pulse Polio Immunization campaign, a training program for polio booth volunteers in Edavaka Grama Panchayat was inaugurated by the Panchayat President.

The President stated that the role of volunteers is crucial in ensuring the safe distribution of polio drops to children and in making the campaign a complete success.

The training was led by a team consisting of health sector staff and ASHA workers.

Extensive arrangements have been made in Edavaka Grama Panchayat to ensure that all children in the Panchayat receive the immunization drops.

Development Standing Committee Chairpersons, Ward Members, the Medical Officer, and other Health Department officials participated in the event.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026

World Environment Day Celebrated

 
Edavaka: World Environment Day was celebrated jointly by the Edavaka Grama Panchayat, Krishi Bhavan, and the Biodiversity Management Committee. The programme was inaugurated by Grama Panchayat President Mrs. Girija Sudhakaran.

The programme was organized with the objective of promoting environmental conservation and raising public awareness about the importance of protecting nature and enhancing green cover. As part of the celebration, tree saplings were planted at various locations across the Panchayat.

Tree planting activities were carried out at Priyadarshini Estate, Valeri, and Nagathan Kavu at Kammana Kurishingal. Various awareness programmes were also organized as part of the Environment Day celebrations.

"Environmental protection is the responsibility of every citizen. Let us join hands to preserve a safe and sustainable natural heritage for future generations."

Neem and Curry Leaf Saplings Distributed to Anganwadis in Edavaka Panchayat

Pallikkal: Neem and curry leaf saplings were distributed to all Anganwadis in the panchayat under the joint auspices of Edavaka Grama Panchayat, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), and the Social Forestry Department. The project is being implemented with the objectives of environmental protection, promotion of medicinal plants, and creating green environments around Anganwadis. The distribution of saplings was inaugurated by Smt. Girija Sudhakaran, President of Edavaka Grama Panchayat. Grama Panchayat members, MGNREGS officials, Social Forestry representatives, and Anganwadi workers participated in the function. Instructions for planting and nurturing the saplings in each Anganwadi were also given during the event. Panchayat authorities informed that such activities will continue to be organized in cooperation with various departments as part of achieving a Green Kerala.

Pre-Monsoon Cleaning Activities Launched in Edavaka Grama Panchayat

Pallikkal: Pre-monsoon cleaning activities have commenced under the leadership of Edavaka Grama Panchayat. Panchayat President Smt. Girija Sudhakaran officially inaugurated the cleaning drive at Kallodi Town.

Following the inauguration, an extensive cleaning campaign was carried out across various town areas under the guidance of the Vice President, Standing Committee Chairpersons, Ward Members, Panchayat Secretary, Medical Officer, Health Inspectors, Haritha Karma Sena members, merchants, social workers, and local residents.

Roadsides, drainage channels, public spaces, and waste-accumulated areas were thoroughly cleared, and refuse—including plastics—was successfully removed. Officials urged the public to maintain strict hygiene standards in their surroundings to prevent the outbreak of infectious diseases during the monsoon season and to guarantee a clean environment.

Edavaka Grama Panchayat Approves ₹15,000 Annual Bonus for Haritha Karma Sena for FY 2025-26

Key Highlights: A minimum bonus of ₹12,000 and a maximum bonus of ₹15,000 have been sanctioned from the Consortium Fund.

Pallikkal: Edavaka Grama Panchayat has sanctioned the annual performance bonus for the members of the Haritha Karma Sena from the Consortium Fund for the financial year 2025-26. Grama Panchayat President Girija Sudhakaran made the official announcement during the Annual General Body meeting held at Swaraj Hall.

Consortium President Ramya presided over the meeting. Along with the bonus declaration, it was also decided during the session to organize a grand family get-together (Kudumba Sangamam) for the Haritha Karma Sena members.

Vice President Mustafa, Standing Committee Chairperson Leela Balan, Secretary Mohammed Iqbal, Assistant Secretary Azeez A.K., VEO Shaijith, Health Inspector Manish, Ramla P., and other members of the governing body attended the function and delivered speeches.
